According to Brian Hickey, Business Development Manager, Siemens IT Solutions & Services: “This is an all encompassing project where the entire knowledge resources of the organisation can be effectively integrated and automated. It is designed to improve dramatically efficiencies and resources for HRI, giving the organisation greater flexibility in its day-to-day management across all of its activities.”
Horse Racing Ireland is the national authority for horseracing in Ireland. Established by the government as a semi-state commercial body in 2001, HRI’s aim is to develop and promote Ireland as a world centre of excellence for horse racing and breeding.
Outlining the rationale for the development, Frank Meldon, HRI’s Director of Information Technology explained: “The new system will be web based comprising a bespoke element but will leverage existing packaged technologies which will add functionality and future flexibility. The goal is to streamline the racing administration function internally and improve interactivity with our external user base. This will have the double benefit of increasing service levels for our customers, whilst at the same time also reducing the cost of servicing clients.”
