1874: Work is begun on laying the first direct telegraph cable across the Atlantic, linking Ballinskelligs Bay on Ireland’s west coast to North America.
1883: Siemens builds the Portrush–Bushmills railway in County Antrim, one of the world’s first electric railways.
1925: Siemens–Schuckert (Ireland) Ltd. Is founded in Dublin.
1925 - 1929: The Shannon Hydro-Electric Scheme is constructed at Ardnacrusha to provide electrification for the Irish Free State. more
1937: The Siemens-Schuckert Manufacturing Co. is established in Dublin (specialising in meter assembly).
1963: Siemens builds the world’s largest peat-fired power station in Rhode, County Offaly.
1969: The Electricity Supply Board awards Siemens a contract to provide electrical power plant equipment for Turlough Hill, Ireland’s first pumped storage station.
1984: Siemens delivers the overhead line system for the DART network.
1986: The company installs a Magnetom magnetic resonance imaging system in Dublin’s new Mater Private Hospital, the first system of its kind in Ireland.
1997: Following the successful completion of Phase One, ESB awards the contract to Siemens for the turnkey supply of the Poolbeg power plant, Phase Two.
1998: Siemens supplies Ireland’s first PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) to Meth– Adelaide Hospital, Tallaght.
1999: Siemens sets up an international online customer service centre in Cork for Siemens communications equipment.
